Happy 2017!

Beginnings are usually exciting and motivating because they represent hope😀.So far,2017  has been very good to us in Kampala, weather wise especially because January is usually a hot month. I am very grateful for this 🙂

Dressing up in the cold weather can be challenging most times especailly when I intend to appear feminine, chic and warm at the same time.  I prefer sweaters to jackets even though I own more jackets.

This double layered skirt, is everything. I am fascinated by its meticulous attention to detail. The maker should be a person of depth. I mean it’s double layered yet still see through. I tucked in a juniper green pullover sweater to compliment the earth color of the skirt. It is imporatant to get proportions right, balance is key. If you are wearing a mini skirt, an oversized sweater is ideal and vice versa. Equilibrium is essential for colour and texture as well. A monochrome skirt will balance the bold pattern of a sweater, while a simpler knit sweater will look great with an embellished skirt.

I finished my look with brown boots to remain earth strong.

MELLOW OUT

If I heard someone talk about sweaters and boots I would most likely eavesdrop because that is comfort and style talk.  It is like those buy one get one promos. These two items manage to look stylish every time. If I knew earlier in life that tucking in sweaters would look this stylish I would have done it with my school uniform.

This over sized sweater is one of my comfort clothes, it can work well on my couch on a lazy Sunday, a night out with shorts and on a random evening. I like it’s rich (ruby woo) color. Army green is another rich and diverse color. It goes well with almost every color. I finished off the look with brown boots which are my favorite right now (because they look like those sock boots I am dreaming about)  and a chunky blue bag.I salute the inventor of high waist jeans.

Tips;

  • When tucking in choose an over sized sweater.
  • Avoid tucking in neatly.

Have a beautiful September, hope you caught a glimpse of the eclipse.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love, Rebecca.

Hats have trended for over two years ever since their big come back.

Humans have covered their heads since time immemorial.  Initially headwear offered protection from the elements and from injury from falling rocks, weapons or masonry.  Later head coverings became symbols of status of authority.  Soon after hats progressed to become not only a uniform, but also an art form.
In fashion terms, hats are a very noticeable accessory because the onlooker’s attention is first drawn to the face. A hat is the most noticeable fashion item anyone can wear.  The old saying goes ‘if you want to get ahead and get noticed, then get a hat’.  Indeed the word ‘ahead’ means just that one head further forwardFashion-era.com

Big round hats are my favourite because they flatter my also round chubby face. Flat hats can work well with any outfit while the wavy hats are for casual clothing. Find the right hat for your face and add flare to your outfit.

COMPANY SHIRT STYLE.

Happy May, I like beginnings. They carry sentiments of hope and a zeal to accomplish goals.
Now let’s talk company shirts. They are not our favourite pieces of clothing to wear. They remind us of the many school uniform days. They cramp our style! Well it’s about time we changed that. A shirt is a timeless piece of clothing in fashion. It’s up to us to style it in accordance to current trends.
I styled mine with a dual colored asymmetric skirt and brown ankle length boots. These two items completed my look in a tasteful way. Have fun with your company shirt.

This dress is of a blanket texture, this means that I do not need to wear a coat ☺,  on the downside, the sun can decide to make permanent visit. I was mumbling  “sunshine not today, maybe another day, georgous Rebecca will burn, sunshine not today” And just as I remember the rhyme working for me as a child, it worked today too (well..until about 4pm) not too bad, right?
This dress follows the T.shirt trend that is still on going. I love the double pockets on both sides and the V neck. I added black socks to sheild my legs from the cold.I styled it with a belt to add to my shape and tribal printed scarf. I made sure to match the colors so the outfit is well put together.  I finished the look with black ankle boots and dull cream bag.
Tip: Do away with a belt if you are apple shaped.
